Amazon.com Product Reviews

An innovative design for a lightweight tandem stroller, the Joovy Caboose ultralight stand-on tandem stroller manages to fit into a 21-pound stroller all of the feature--and then some--of a traditional sit-and-stand. The front seat of the Caboose can fit a variety of infant car seat carriers, and once the child is older than six months, they can be strapped in with a traditional five-point harness. It also has two reclining positions, adjustable footrest, tray with drink holder, and a full canopy. The rear section is for children 2.5 years and older and less than 44 inches tall. While standing they have foam-padded handles, and the padded rear seat gives them a break. Just lock the rear bench seat and buckle the three-point harness, and you're ready to maneuver your way indoors and out. The Neoprene parent organizer is handy, and stow your diaper bag underneath (although, it could stand to be a little larger). The aluminum frame is lightweight and sturdy, and the sage rip-stop nylon helps repel spills and can take a lot more abuse than other fabrics. The manufacturer recommends not exceeding a combined weight of 90 pounds.

Compatible car seats:

  • Graco Snug Rider series
  • Graco Safe Seat
  • Peg Perego Primo Viaggio
  • Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP
  • Evenflo Embrace
  • Compass Light and Portable infant car seat
  • Britax Companion
  • Safety 1st Designer 22
  • Eddie Bauer Infant Car Seat (models 22-625 and 22-626)
  • Baby Trend Latch-Loc and Flex-Loc
  • Chicco Key Fit car seat
  • Combi Centre series
  • Combi Connection

Streamlined Efficiency and Convenience
Double strollers can be bulky and difficult to maneuver, with side x side seats creating an extra-wide profile, or other tandems being too deep to maneuver easily. The Joovy Caboose ultra-light, however, is designed for streamlined ease. Weighing in at just 21 pounds and sporting a neat, compact profile, the Joovy Caboose ultra-light Stand-on Tandem Stroller is a breeze to get around. It measures 41.5 x 21.5 x 38 inches (HxWxD). Sealed ball-bearing wheels contribute to a smoother ride as well, and a foam-padded handle offers additional comfort.

A roomy under-seat basket provides room for your traveling essentials, and the nifty neoprene "Cool Essentials Parent Organizer," which includes a cup holder, keeps keys, your cell phone, and a drink close at hand.

A Fun, Comfortable Ride
The stroller is compatible with many infant car seats (see list below), offering easy "snap and go" convenience for traveling with a young infant. Once your baby is old enough to sit up independently, she can sit facing forward, secured safely with a five-point harness. Snacks and a drink are close at hand thanks to the removable child tray, and a wide sun shade keeps her safe from the elements.

Whether you're browsing at the mall or trekking through the zoo, your older child will love the versatility that the Joovy Caboose ultra-light provides. When she gets tired of walking, she can simply hop onto the standing platform. Comfortably padded handles are available for her to hold. Or she can take a rest on the adjustable, padded seat, which is also equipped with a three-point harness.

Compatible Car Seats
The Joovy Caboose ultra-light Tandem Stroller can be used with the following infant car seat models: The Graco Snug Ride Series and Safe Seat; the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio and Primo Viaggio SIP; the Evenflo Embrace; the Compass Light & Portable Infant Car Seat; the Britax Companion; the Safety 1st Designer 22; the Eddie Bauer Infant Car Seat (models 22-625 and 22-626); the Baby Trend Latch-Loc & Flex-Loc; the Chicco Key Fit Car Seat; the Combi Centre Series and Combi Connection; and the Maxi-Cosi Mico.

4 out of 5 stars love it but im not in love with it   September 7, 2010
mommy of 2
i was so excited when i got this stroller.. i had researched for over a month making sure this was the last stroller i would ever have to buy.. i have an almost 3 year old daughter and a 14mth old son..we also live in england at the moment and everything over here is small and hard to get into, such as doorways, hallways, you name it, its small.. so i wanted a shorter double stroller that would fold flat but do what i needed it to do.. which is carry my son and let my daughter stand or sit whenever she was tired of walking..for the most part i love this stroller.. but for paying over $200 i feel it could be better.. for instance.. when both children are in the stroller its not as easy to turn as most people claim it is.. maybe b/c im 5'4 and i dont have the height to give it a good turn but i feel like i really have to force a tight turn..the basket is awkward to get into if the second child is sitting on the bench..they have to get out of the stroller and you have to move the seat.. not always a big deal but can be a pain..you can access the basket from the side but if your trying to get into your diaper bag, its kinda difficult to put your hand in the side where you cant see then try and reach into your bag and grab what your looking for... the neoprene cup holder/caddy is neat but doesnt work for me.. i get a starbucks coffee almost everyday and when you want to put your hot coffee in the cup holder you have to pull on the neoprene to slide your cup in place and then you have to be careful that it doesnt press on the cup to much and make the lid pop off and break (which unfortunately has happened to me)and im always very careful with it.. basically i have to stop and put the cup in place everytime i want a drink.. my other strollers i just pick it up and put it down while im walking.. so for me this is horrible as i use the cup holders all the time.. it works if you only use bottled water.. the foam on the handles is a nice touch but i miss the different angle handlebars and maybe thats why i have a harder time turning the stroller.. the handles are also taller than most which is great for my 6'1 husband..cause he doesnt kick his feet on the stroller like most others.. my other big turn off on the stroller is when you fold it flat it is extrememly long, about 47 inches long.. to the point that it almost doesnt fit in the back of my SUV and i have a chevy equinox.. but if you take the front child tray and the sun visor off, the stroller itself is alot shorter and easier to get in a car.. but who wants to take all of that off everytime you get in the car, and here in england it rains alot so i need my visor about 90% of the time.. i am glad on the 2010 model they added a third recline position as on there older models they only had 2..it actually came in handy just a few days ago..another down fall is the stroller brake that i had actually read about from a previous review but just ignored cause i figured is was a random incident.. when you need to unlock the break and you wear flip flops alot (like i do) the brake is actually pretty rough on the underside and is hard to push up and unlock.. i have scratched the top of my foot several times..it can be the little things that just make it not as great as i was hoping. i did give it 4 stars cause even though there are some negatives i do like the stroller but i just want people to be aware of what they are purchasing..

5 out of 5 stars GREAT STROLLER   August 27, 2010
Phyllis Crowl
I chose this stroller based on other amazon reviews and it has proved to be a wonderful choice. It is light-weight and the grandchildren love it. It has recently made a trip to Disneyland and Seaworld. The 3 year old loves the sit/stand option, and the 7 mo old was very content. Great Stroller!

5 out of 5 stars Great tandem stroller   August 7, 2010
Jen Bookworm (Michigan)
This stroller is everything it says - lightweight, easy to maneuver, stylish, practical. Love it for my 3-year-old and 8-month-old. Very nice quality. The larger, moveable sunshade is probably my favorite feature. Rides great - I am happy with my purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Great stroller but here are the cons   August 2, 2010
Rebecca
I have three kids and have used this stroller for over 2 years.

1) The tray is near impossible to get off and after a while you will grow to hate that tray and might not even use it.
2) Not a quick in and out of the car stroller. You have to fight it a bit.
3) Does not recline enough for a nap for your baby and the seat is not very padded. I am getting ready to purchase the extra pad for it online. Oh, When the seat in reclined the older child has very little room to sit.

I have plenty of good things to say about the stroller but I figured I just give the negatives b/c you probably already the know the good things.

5 out of 5 stars So glad that we got this!   July 31, 2010
Crestviewer (CO, USA)
I looked at a lot of double strollers when I was pregnant with our second child. I landed on the Joovy Caboose Ultralight and am so glad that I did.

My girls are 23 months apart. My older daughter didn't ride much in the stroller even before we had the second so I was immediately attracted to the sit and stand models because it fit her independent personality because it allows her to get on and off my herself and decided whether she wants to sit or stand.

I was attracted to the joovy sit and stand because it is so compact. Some of the double strollers I have seen are so big that I cannot image pushing them through a lot of stores. And this one maneuvers pretty easily too.

I decided to go with the ultralight model instead of the normal caboose because I decided that I did not need to be lifting or pushing any more weight than I already am with my girls! And I liked that the ultralight has the Cool Essentials Parents Organizer included (a $25 value) - the organizer is one of the coolest and most useful thing!

The only problem we have had with the stroller is that it barely fits in the truck of of our Civic especially when you have the infant car seat adapter on it. So if you are looking at this stroller you might want to check the dimensions to make sure it will fit in your trunk.
